A hearing is scheduled next week for a judge to consider releasing a man charged in Alabama with capital murder in the death of his wife on a honeymoon scuba dive in Australia.
Jefferson County Circuit Judge Tommy Nail set the bond hearing requested by Watson's attorneys for 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The 33-year-old Watson was returned to Birmingham Monday night from Australia, where he had served 18 months for manslaughter in the 2003 death of his 26-year-old wife, Tina, just 11 days after their wedding.
In a motion filed Wednesday by his attorney, Watson says he has a home and a job in Jefferson County and poses no danger to himself or others if released on bond. Assistant Attorney General Don Valeska said he would fight the bond request.
