Ariz. woman accused of giving children drugs

Published November 17, 2014

Associated Press

An Arizona woman is accused of giving her children and one of their friends drugs during a camping trip in which a toddler under her care disappeared and later was found dead.

Christina Priem of Flagstaff was arrested Monday and faces three felony counts of involving a minor in a drug offense.

Yavapai County sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn says none of the charges involve Sylar Newton, the 2-year-old toddler who was found dead. He wouldn't say what drugs Priem is accused of giving the other children.

Priem's arrest stems from an investigation into Sylar's disappearance and death. The boy was camping with Priem and her family near Rimrock in July when they reported him missing. A distant relative found his remains weeks later.
