The Associated Press has named Carson Walker as its new news editor for North Dakota and South Dakota.

The 47-year-old Walker will be based in Sioux Falls.

Walker began his professional career at KDLT-TV in Sioux Falls, where he worked as a reporter, anchor and producer. He was later a reporter at The Argus Leader in Sioux Falls and served as KDLT's news director before joining the AP in 1998 as the Dakotas Broadcast Editor.

He is a 1989 graduate of Colorado State University.
