Anchor regrets 'insensitive' post on black shooting suspects

A Pittsburgh anchorwoman has apologized for comments she posted on Facebook about a mass shooting at a cookout that left five people dead in a nearby town.

WTAE anchor/reporter Wendy Bell says she "regrets offending anyone" and that her words were "insensitive and could be viewed as racist."

In her original post Monday, Bell described the suspects in the shootings as "young black men" with "multiple siblings from multiple fathers" and "their mothers work multiple jobs."

Bell, who is white, also said they've "been in the system before" and "know the police."

Police have not released descriptions of the suspects.

Bell's post was later altered and has since been deleted.

The post sparked outrage among some who viewed her comments as offensive. WTAE has not responded to calls for comment.
