Alabama couple charged with rape in scheme to get girl pregnant for baby

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

Authorities say an Alabama couple tried to obtain a baby by sexually assaulting an underage girl in hopes she'd get pregnant.

Court records show say 29-year-olds Jeremy and Amanda Swann of Jones are charged with rape.

Dallas County Investigator Janet Cole tells the Selma Times-Journal (http://bit.ly/1l8tlpE ) the couple propositioned a girl to have sex with the man. They allegedly wanted the girl to have a baby for them.

Cole says the girl was assaulted at least six times. She apparently never got pregnant.

Jeremy Swann's mother, Dianna Swann, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She allegedly knew what was going on and didn't intervene.

The three are due in court Monday for a bond hearing.

Records show they don't yet have lawyers.
