Adventurer who found plane part drawn to mysteries

Published March 04, 2016

Associated Press

Friends of an American adventurer who may have helped crack one of aviation's greatest mysteries say he has a passion for travel and meeting people.

Blaine Gibson, a lawyer from Seattle, may have discovered what may be a piece of tail section from Flight MH370 that disappeared March 8, 2014 with 239 people aboard. The airliner is believed to have crashed somewhere in a remote stretch of the southern Indian Ocean.

The 58-year-old Gibson, who grew up in California, told The Associated Press he had come to Mozambique as part of a dream to see every country in the world. Dave Ryan, a Seattle attorney who befriended Gibson in law school, says Gibson travels a lot and had different business ventures around the globe.
