A year later, cases linger in Ohio teen forced labor case

The third of four people accused of smuggling teens into the U.S. and keeping them as virtual slave laborers at an Ohio egg farm has pleaded guilty to charges.

More than a year after federal agents raided a dilapidated trailer park and rescued 10 young Guatemalans, three defendants await sentencing and a fourth is awaiting a trial. Their indictment last summer brought national attention to the exploitation of young immigrants who fled volatile situations in Central America.

Prosecutors say the defendants engineered a scheme to claim child immigrants from authorities and force them to work on the farm.

Most recently, 23-year-old Pablo Duran Jr., pleaded guilty in December to harboring an illegal alien. His attorney declined to comment.
