$50 million Clemson lawsuits on pledge's death put another fraternity in national spotlight

The parents of a Clemson University fraternity pledge who plunged to his death from a bridge into rocky, shallow water have filed lawsuits against the school, the fraternity and three of its members.

The two lawsuits, filed Monday, seek at least $25 million each in damages in the September death of 19-year-old Tucker Hipps, who fell to his death during a Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity run.

Clemson says it doesn't comment on pending litigation. The fraternity says it's reviewing the allegations.

Nationally, several fraternity incidents have made recent headlines. Police are investigating allegations that a Penn State fraternity used a private Facebook page to post photos of nude women. At the University of Oklahoma, fraternity members were caught on video singing a racist song.
