2 suburban NY officials charged in securities fraud case

Published April 14, 2016

Associated Press

A suburban New York town supervisor and the former head of a local development corporation are charged with securities fraud in connection with the financing of a controversial stadium.

A 22-count indictment issued Thursday names Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence and N. Aaron Troodler, who is the former executive director of the Ramapo Local Development Corporation.

Authorities believe they are the first-ever municipal bond-related criminal securities fraud charges against public officials.

There was no immediate information on attorneys who could comment on the defendants' behalf.

The town attorney didn't immediately respond to email and phone requests for comment.
