2 New York brothers have babies 82 minutes apart

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

Two Long Island brothers have become proud fathers on the same day -- just one hour and 22 minutes apart.

Winthrop University Hospital spokesman Edmund Keating says Nick Pereira's new son Nathaniel entered the world at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday weighing 8 pounds, 5 ounces.

Then at 10:37 a.m. his older brother David Pereira met his newborn daughter Gwyneth, who weighed in at 7 pounds, 15 ounces.

Thirty five-year-old Nick texted his 36-year-old brother David early Wednesday to say he was at the hospital because his wife was ready to deliver. David's response over text message was that he was already at the hospital because his wife was also ready to deliver.
