2 men smash U-Haul van into San Francisco storefront, steal high-end outdoor gear

Published May 03, 2016

Associated Press

Police say two men rammed a U-Haul rental van through a storefront near Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco and drove away after grabbing armfuls of high-end outdoor clothing and gear.

Police Sgt. Fitz Wong tells KGO-TV (http://abc7ne.ws/1ujQrsH) that the men backed into the Patagonia store at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

The van smashed the glass front door, several windows and some store displays. The store was closed at the time and no one was hurt.

Wong says police spotted the van but lost track of it as it sped away and were still looking for the men Sunday night.

The dollar value of the damage done and the merchandise taken wasn't immediately clear.

Patagonia sells upscale outdoor and camping clothing and gear.
