Prosecutors have charged a 10-year-old boy with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly starting a fire in his Massachusetts home that killed two relatives, including a 6-year-old boy, MyFoxBoston reports.
The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, pleaded not guilty yesterday in Lawrence Juvenile Court.
Prosecutors say the boy used a lighter to start the fire in November 2008 that killed 50-year-old Mary Pina and 6-year-old first-grader Daquon Davis.
A spokesman for the Essex district attorney's office said in a statement that charges are being brought to ensure that the boy gets the treatment he needs to prevent a similar tragedy.
