A man accused of running onto a ramp at Denver International Airport and trying to stop a departing airplane so he wouldn't miss his 40th high school reunion has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor tampering.

The Denver Post reports 58-year-old Marc Rehmar entered his plea Monday and was sentenced to two years of probation. He also must complete 100 hours of community service.

Prosecutors say Rehmar pushed open an emergency exit on one of the airport's concourses on Aug. 6 and tried to stop a United Airlines flight bound for Ohio as it was leaving the gate. An alarm sounded when the door opened. Police responded and arrested Rehmar.
