AAA announced today that no less than six properties around the world had been granted the prestigious Five Diamond Award.
According to AAA's Director of Inspections and Diamond Ratings Michael Petrone, the travel organization's Five Diamond Award is reserved for the handful of hotels who are delivering a truly unique experience, often by being on the cutting edge of technology.
"At the Five Diamond level, we're seeing hotels using new technology to expand the scope and depth of the traditional hallmarks of ultra-luxury accommodations: indulgent pampering and highly personalized service," said Petrone in a statement. "For example, using virtual touchpoints such as text messaging, social media and apps, hotels reach out to guests before, during and after their stay."
Without further ado, here are the six hotels and resorts AAA added to its exclusive Five Diamond list for the new year.
Hotel Mousai
Where: Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Puerto Vallarta is coming off a record year and so it comes as little surprise that Hotel Mousai was one of this year's honorees.
Amenities at the adults-only hotel include a rooftop pool (featuring an eye-popping view), spa, gym and resident DJ.
What's more, guests at the Hotel Mousai can personalize their stay through the use of an iPad that's able to open and close curtains for instance.
St. Regis Deer Valley
Where: Park City, Utah
With ski season in full swing, the offerings at the St. Regis Deer Valley are in high demand. Here, guests have easy access to skiing without having to sacrifice on luxury.
This Park City, Utah property offers daily afternoon iced tea socials, nightly s'mores gatherings for children and champagne by the fire for adults.
Park Hyatt New York
Where: New York, New York
Park Hyatt New York has a lot to offer, especially traveling pet owners. The hotel is pet-friendly and donates all of its pet fees to various animal charities.
Inside the hotel an indoor pool and 1,845-square-foot fitness center stand out as the top amenities. Meanwhile, a custom designed beverage center and a media hub highlight the in-room offerings.
It's worth noting that the Park Hyatt New York is the Big Apple's ninth Five Diamond hotel.
The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain
Where: Marana, Arizona
Those planning a trip to the Southwest will want to consider Arizona's Ritz-Carlton Dove Mountain resort.
The resort's golf facilities are second to none and the spa incorporates ancient curative rituals and therapies influenced by Sonoran desert traditions. This resort is also ideal for those looking to get closer to nature.
The Cloister
Where: Sea Island, Georgia
Guests staying at The Cloister in Sea Island, Georgia certainly won't run out of things to do. From tennis to boating, this Five Diamond property is ideal for either a brief or extended getaway.
Luxurious and large are the two best words to describe the rooms but the spaciousness extends to the outside, where The Cloister boasts five miles of private beach.
Trump International Hotel and Tower Toronto
Where: Toronto, Ontario
When it's time to hit the hay, guests staying at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Toronto's financial district can choose their pillow from a detailed menu. How's that for luxury?
The indulgence doesn't stop there, though, as each room features a European-style wet bar with a Nespresso machine for a pleasant wake up the next day.
