A woman and a man holding her baby while walking on the side of a New York highway have been run over by a driver who didn't bother to stop.
The baby flew out of the man's hands but wasn't struck by the car and suffered only minor injuries. The man was killed.
The New York Police Department says officers were called Friday night to a shoulder of the Sunrise Highway in Queens on a report of an injured pedestrian. The officers determined a 22-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man carrying her 1-year-old son had been struck by a westbound car.
A witness says the car was doing 90 mph.
The woman and her son are hospitalized in stable condition. Police say the man who died was a family friend.
Police are looking for a black 2000 Nissan Maxima with New York registration DVH1449.
