Woman Forced to Fork Over iPod to Pay New York City Cab Fare

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is investigating a California woman's claim that she was forced to use her iPod as payment for a cab ride.

Natalie Lenhart, 20, of Sacramento, said her credit card was declined during her New York airport ride in early December. The driver called 911.

Lenhart told the New York Post that Port Authority police ordered her to give the driver some compensation, so she turned over the iPod.

Lenhart did not immediately return calls and an e-mail from The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The Port Authority internal affairs office is investigating. The agency said in a statement that the incident, as reported, would violate its policy, and that action would be taken if someone didn't follow procedure.
