Virginia Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

Police say a married couple in southwestern Virginia has been found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Washington County Sheriff's authorities told the Bristol Herald Courier that deputies responded to a call for help early Saturday.

Rebecca Ellen Clayman was found dead in the yard of their mobile home with gunshot wounds to her face and chest. Her husband, Paul Dean Clayman, was found in the bathroom with a single gunshot wound to the head and a pistol nearby.

Sheriff Fred Newman said in a statement that based on the 911 call, alcohol could have been a factor.

Family members say the couple had two sons, one of whom had just started his freshman year at University of Virginia's College at Wise.
