University Stunned to Learn Porn Film Was Shot in School-Owned Building

Published January 13, 2015

University officials have been stunned to learn that a porn film involving students was shot more than two years ago in a school-owned mansion normally reserved for seminars.

School officials gave director Christopher Gregory permission to shoot scenes for a horror movie there, but Gregory said turning "Vampire Diaries" into porn was a last-minute decision.

"From a director's point of view, I don't believe a filmmaker should be reined in creatively," Gregory said.

The film was released Friday on DVD. Featuring Ball State students, it follows Dracula's daughter as she makes an appearance in the 21st century as a 23-year-old college student exploring her sexuality.

Nothing in the film identifies the university, Gregory said.

Ball State Provost Terry King said the university will review the agreement and try to determine whether the film damaged the university's reputation before deciding on legal action.

"We clearly didn't do our homework here," said King. "He was pretty slick about the whole thing, in retrospect."
