The vomiting virus is spreading across Britain at such a rapid rate, almost three million people have already been affected by the stomach bug, according to a report by the BBC.
Recent figures from the country's Health Protection Agency show cases of the norovirus in the U.K. are double from those seen last year.
People are being advised to stay home for at least two days after symptoms have subsided to cut the risk of the virus from spreading.
One of the problems is that the norovirus season began unusually early this year, according to HPA. For every 1,922 reported cases, it is estimated another 1,500 have been unreported.
This equates to around 2.8 million people affected so far this winter and the virus is still circulating. Norovirus is the most common cause of infectious gastroenteritis.
