Small Plane Crashes in Arizona; No Sign of Pilot

Authorities are trying to find the owner of a small plane that crashed Saturday night while trying to land at a small airport in north-central Arizona.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office began a search Saturday night after the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center picked up signals from an emergency locator transmitter, indicating a plane had crashed.

The next morning, a Civil Air Patrol plane brought in to search spotted the heavily damaged single-engine Beech B23 about 100 yards south of the runway at the airport in Bagdad.

A deputy sent to the scene found no one around and no signs of anyone having been injured.

Attempts to find the plane's registered Southern California owner weren't immediately successful.
