The tale of the alleged extramarital affairs dogging embattled Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's administration might soon expand.
The Detroit News reported Tuesday that the Wayne County, Mich., prosecutor's office is planning to update its conspiracy and perjury charges against Kilpatrick, who is accused of lying to investigators about his relationship with his former chief of staff.
"It will happen in the near future," said Maria Miller, a spokeswoman for Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. "It will include others. Other sexual/romantic relationships."
Miller told the paper that the allegations arose from mobile phone text messages the prosecutor reviewed. Although the women's names won't be mentioned in the new charge sheets, their names could come out at a trial.
It is not clear if the information was submitted to the court in a new motion filed Monday, because that motion was ordered sealed. But arguments last week suggest the new allegations might stem from some 200 previously unreleased text messages.
