Nurse Accused of Killing 6 Patients With 'Medication Cocktails'

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

A state report says a former nurse at a Woodstock home gave "medication cocktails" to patients she thought had lived long enough or were difficult to care for.

No one is identified by name in the Illinois Department of Public Health's 130-page investigative report on the Woodstock Residence.

The nursing home is under investigation after six patients died suspiciously in 2006. Two former employees face criminal charges including neglect.

The report claims a former nurse was "hastening the death of residents receiving end of life care."

The report, which follows a lengthy investigation by the Illinois State Police, is based on staff interviews.

A health department spokeswoman declined to discuss specifics Thursday, citing confidentiality.
