And now the most absorbing two minutes in television, the latest from the wartime grapevine:

Media Bias in Favor of Democrats?
The Media Research Center, which keeps statistics on who reports what on broadcast news, found a general bias in favor of Democrats and opponents of an Iraq war resolution in Congress. In the month between President Bush's speech to the United Nations and the final day of debate in Congress last week, the Center found that ABC, CBS and NBC evening news programs carried 81 sound bites from members of Congress, 58 were from Democrats, only 19 were from Republicans. As for the 51 sound bites that were definitely for or against an Iraq war resolution, the center found the balance was 50-50 on CBS, 53 to 47 percent against on NBC, and 100 percent opposed on ABC News.
Tax Deductible $ to Get Out the Vote
The Democratic Socialists of America, which bill themselves as the largest socialist organization in the country, is raising tax-deductible money to send young people in the state of Minnesota where they can take advantage of same-day registration to vote for liberal incumbent Paul Wellstone. Under the heading, "Send a student to Minnesota ," the group's Web site says, "Wellstone will need a high percentage of young people to register and vote for him." But it adds, "Because we are focusing on issue-based voter registration, this electoral work can be supported by tax-deductible contributions."
Blamed Republicans for Primary Loss
When Democratic Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney lost her primary in August, she blamed her defeat on thousands of Republican voters she said had crossed over to oppose her in Georgia's open Democratic primary. McKinney has filed suit to try to overturn the result. McKinney, of course, is famous for her suggestion that President Bush may have had advance knowledge of the 9/11 atrocities. But an analysis of voter registration information by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has concluded that only about three thousand of the votes against McKinney were Republican, not nearly enough to provide the 16 per cent margin by which she lost.
Protesters Protested
Finally, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, took their case against milk-drinking to an elementary school in Aberdeen, Scotland, yesterday, but they ended up being the ones protested. A PETA official and a companion dressed up as a cow found themselves surrounded by school kids who pelted them with cartons of milk for 10 minutes before they were rescued by police. Said one of the kids about the PETA protest, "This is a stupid idea. We should be encouraged to drink milk and I certainly won't stop drinking milk just because a man has dressed up as a cow outside my school."
