Jury Selection Begins in Trial of Stephen Grant

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

Jury selection is under way in the murder trial of Stephen Grant on charges of killing and dismembering his wife.

Macomb County has called about 400 jurors. That's three times as many as normal. It wants to have an impartial jury because of intense media coverage of the case. The selection process could take a week.

Grant is charged with first-degree murder and mutilating a corpse in the February 9th death of 34-year-old Tara Grant. He'd reported her missing on Valentine's Day and insisted he had nothing to do with her disappearance.

He was arrested in early March in a state park in the far northern Lower Peninsula.
