Indiana Gov.-Elect Wants Time Change

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

Governor-elect Mitch Daniels (search) said his proposal to make all of Indiana observe daylight-saving time (search) is an economic development initiative.

However, similar efforts to mandate the clock change in 77 counties that do not observe daylight-saving time have failed at least 24 times in the past three decades.

In a news conference yesterday, Daniels said the change will eliminate confusion for businesses and put Indiana in sync with almost every other state.

He said Indiana has lost jobs because of the confusion over time zones (search).

Daniels said that if it was just a matter of people in other states laughing at Indiana, he'd let them laugh.
