Idaho Man Sues, Alleging Docs Left Device in Knee

A Sun Valley man who says he suffered 10 weeks of joint pain and stiffness before doctors discovered they'd left a broken device in his knee during surgery is suing for unspecified monetary damages.

David Robrahn filed a lawsuit in 5th District Court in Blaine County this month naming doctors Anthony Buoncristiani and Delmer Pletcher, the Mountain Express reported.

Also named in the lawsuit are Sawtooth Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, where Buoncristiani and Pletcher practice, and St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center, where the surgery was performed.

Robrahn alleged an X-ray performed on Feb. 11, 2008, more than two months after his surgery, showed a "foreign body."

According to the lawsuit, Buoncristiani performed follow-up surgery the next day and removed what appeared to be a broken surgical device from Robrahn's knee.
