Police say two masked men shot and killed a Honduran ruling party lawmaker and two other people during a political event.
Authorities say Liberal Party congressman Mario Fernando Hernandez was at a school in northern Nicaragua when gunmen opened fire from a car.
The 42-year-old Hernandez was one of four congressional vice presidents and headed the legislature's security commission. He was seeking re-election in elections scheduled for Nov. 30.
Also killed in Saturday's shooting were a lawyer accompanying Hernandez and an unidentified man.
Police have named no suspects.
