Gunman Wounds 2 in Shooting Rampage at Caesars Palace Casino on Las Vegas Strip

Officers searched for a man suspected of shooting two people after an early-morning fistfight in a Las Vegas Strip casino.

Richard Earl Shepherd Jr., 34, is wanted in the shooting at Caesars Palace that left two men with non-life-threatening injuries, said Officer Ramon Denby of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

The shooting was the second inside a Las Vegas Strip casino in the past month.

Officers believe Shepherd retrieved a gun from a parking garage, returned to the site of the brawl and opened fire as he stepped out of an elevator, hitting one man in the knee and another twice in the arm, Denby said.

"It's believed the other group of guys may have made a statement to the female, a statement that Shepherd didn't like," he said.

Police were investigating whether the fight may have been gang-related.

The two victims were treated and released. Their names were not immediately released.

Shepherd was last seen by surveillance cameras entering the casino's parking garage, and was considered armed and dangerous, Denby said.

Caesars' spokesman Ken Langdon said casino staff were cooperating with police, but he declined to comment further.

On July 6, a man police described as emotionally troubled opened fire inside the New York-New York casino, wounding four people.
