Firefighters Put Out 3-Alarm Blaze at Apple Headquarters in Cupertino

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

Firefighters have put out a blaze that burned for more than three hours at the headquarters of computer maker Apple.

The Santa Clara County Fire Department says the three-alarm fire scorched the roof and the second level at one of the six buildings on the company's northern California campus in Cupertino.

It was extinguished early Wednesday morning and no one was injured.

Senior Communications Dispatcher Rafael Salcedo says the fire was "not very big, but there is going to be a lot of smoke damage."

The first reports of smoke came at about 10 p.m. Tuesday night, and the fire was contained by 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Some stubborn flames under an air conditioning unit burned for about an hour more.
