Expected Vote on HP-Compaq Deal

An unusually high number of large investors have announced their positions on Hewlett-Packard's $21 billion acquisition of Compaq, which goes to a shareholder vote Tuesday.

Here is a list of the investors with more than 0.25 percent of HP stock that have disclosed their positions, followed by the percentage of shares they control.

AGAINST THE DEAL: 

David and Lucile Packard Foundation, 10.37 percent.

William R. Hewlett Revocable Trust, 3.75 percent.

Hewlett Foundation, 1.88 percent.

Packard Humanities Institute, 1.33 percent.

Brandes Investment Partners, 1.27 percent.

California Public Employees Retirement System, 0.39 percent.

New York State Teachers Retirement System, 0.36 percent.

New York Common Retirement Fund, 0.36 percent.

Victory Capital Management, 0.36 percent.

Wells Fargo, 0.34 percent.

Robert E. Torray & Co., 0.33 percent.

Banc of America Capital Management, 0.31 percent.

California State Teachers Retirement System, 0.30 percent.

FOR THE DEAL: 

Barclays Global Investors (turned its vote over to independent proxy analysts who have blessed the deal), 3.10 percent.

Putnam Investment Management, 2.53 percent.

Alliance Capital Management, 2.34 percent.

Banc One Investment Advisors, 0.26 percent
