Ed McMahon Home From Hospital

Former "Tonight Show" sidekick Ed McMahon (search) went home from the hospital Tuesday after being treated for injuries from a fall at his Beverly Hills home, his publicist said.

McMahon received several stitches for a gash in his forehead and suffered a mild concussion when he tripped and fell Friday afternoon, Susan DuBow said.

He spent his birthday Sunday in the hospital.

"I feel great and now I'm going to celebrate my 82nd birthday properly," McMahon said in a statement.

He was planning to have a barbecue, DuBow said.

McMahon was perhaps best known as Johnny Carson (search)'s sidekick for decades on "The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson" and he was Carson's sidekick on the game show "Who Do You Trust?" in 1957." Carson, who retired in 1992, died Jan. 23 of emphysema at age 79.

McMahon was also co-host with Dick Clark of the "Bloopers" shows and he has appeared year after year on The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.
