The Talking Points memo this evening is about the magical World Series.
Even if you're not a baseball fan, what's happening with the New York Yankees is pure magic.
Wednesday and Thursday nights, they fought back to win at the very last moment. I've followed baseball my whole life, and I've never seen anything like it.
It doesn't matter who wins the series. The battling Yankees are now a metaphor for the entire USA. We are fighting back, just like the Yankees. The whole country is determined to win the war on terror.
The two last-second home runs by the Yanks are symbolic of the American spirit. Even when we're down, we're not defeated. Our enemies are foolish barbarians who will lose everything in the long run because we are not a nation of capitulators.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are a tremendous team, but the magic is with New York. I truly felt sorry for the Arizona pitcher who gave up the homers, but it was almost as if there was divine intervention. Surely there's something in the air. Even the Yankees themselves are shocked by their comebacks. You can see it in their eyes.
For those of us who believe, a message is being sent, and that message has to do with determination, discipline, and an undying spirit. I received the message loud and clear, and I hope you have, too.
And that's the memo.
The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day
Rosie O'Donnell, the queen of politically correct, now says she likes President Bush.
Appearing on Dennis Prager's radio program in Los Angeles, Ms. O'Donnell says she even got to Yankee Stadium an hour early so she could videotape the president throwing out the first ball.
Wow.
No word yet from the White House about this latest endorsement, but once Rosie converts, can Barbra Streisand be far behind? That would really be ridiculous.
