Delta Air Lines Flight Lands Safely in South Carolina After Engine Shutdown Emergency

Authorities say a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta has landed safely at its destination in Greenville after having to shut down an engine and declaring an emergency.

Delta spokeswoman Susan Elliott told The Greenville News the pilot declared the emergency Wednesday night so he could get priority to land after noticing his engine temperatures were above normal.

Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport spokeswoman Rosylin Weston says the problem was caused by an oil leak.

Weston says the MD-88 had 97 people on board and there were no injuries.
