A building in downtown Washington, D.C., that is home to ABC News was briefly evacuated Thursday because of a suspicious envelope that turned out to contain aspirin.
An ABC News employee on Capitol Hill told FOX News producers that the building was evacuated "out of an abundance of caution."
White powder was found in the envelope by construction workers in the basement of the building. The envelope was not in the mailroom, according to the employee.
Chief Croswhite of the D.C. Fire Department said the news agency evacuated itself before the fire department arrived, and it did not appear to be a credible threat at the time. Shortly afterward, the all-clear was given and workers re-entered the building.
D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Alan Etter said the building was evacuated as a precaution, and no one had reported any medical symptoms.
The Associated Press and FOX News' Trish Turner contributed to this report.
