British Retail Chain Pulls Jackets With Free Knife Inside

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

A retail chain says it has pulled jackets sold with a pocket knife from it stores in Britain.

T.K. Maxx says it removed the coats after learning that a knife attached by a chain was included in the purchase.

The retailer said Friday it was unaware the coat included the promotional gift. The coat is made by Strellson Swiss Cross.

Britain has seen a recent spate of knife attacks. Last year, a T.K. Maxx assistant was stabbed to death at work in a store north of London.

The retail store is owned by Massachusetts-based TJX Companies Inc., which also owns U.S.-based chains T.J. Maxx and Marshalls.
