Bo Diddley's on the mend.

The hall-of-fame musician has been released from a Florida hospital after suffering a heart attack and having a stent inserted to improve blood flow, his publicist said in a statement Tuesday.

The 78-year-old singer-guitarist was released Saturday, said Susan Clary, Diddley's publicist.

"With his health greatly improved, Diddley is happy to be home with his family and away from the hospital food," Clary said.

She said no further information would be released at this time.

Diddley complained of dizziness and nausea during a routine checkup with his physician Aug. 24. He then underwent surgery to install the stent at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville. The hospital is near his north central Florida hometown of Archer.

Diddley was hospitalized in Nebraska in May after suffering a stroke after casino performances in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was soon transferred to Florida to begin rehabilitation.

With his black glasses and low-slung guitar, Diddley has been an icon in the music industry since he topped the R&B charts with "Bo Diddley" in 1955. His other hits include "Who Do You Love," "Before You Accuse Me," "Mona" and "I'm a Man."

Diddley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and was given a lifetime achievement Grammy in 1998.
