Police say a child and an adult have died from injuries after being trapped underwater when a pleasure boat sank in the Seine River in central Paris.
The 6-year-old child and the adult were the only two injured in the accident near Notre Dame Cathedral. The other 10 people aboard the boat were rescued safely.
The Paris police headquarters said Sunday that the two died overnight in the hospital after the accident late Saturday. The two had been stuck in the bottom of the boat and spent several minutes underwater before being pulled out by divers.
The circumstances of the accident remained unclear. French news reports said the two were a boy and his father.
