Zwolle smashes PSV Eindhoven

Zwolle, Netherlands (SportsNetwork.com) - PSV Eindhoven suffered its first defeat of the new season as the club was on the wrong end of a 3-1 result at the IJsseldelta Stadion on Saturday.

PSV entered the contest on the back of four wins from its first four league games, and things started brightly for the Eredivisie leaders when Luuk de Jong converted a 32nd-minute penalty to break the deadlock in Saturday's affair.

But Zwolle responded with three unanswered goals to secured the win.

Jesper Drost equalized in the 40th minute before Joost Broerse provided the hosts with the go-ahead goal in the 64th minute.

As PSV pushed for a tying goal, Zwolle managed to get some insurance through Ben Rienstra's strike three minutes from time, sealing the win that saw the two sides go level atop the table on 12 points apiece.

Heerenveen moved to within two points of the summit as Daley Sinkgraven's 38th-minute goal helped to club improve to 10 points with a 1-0 victory at AZ Alkmaar.

Ajax also kept pace as a brace from Arkadiusz Milik granted the club a 2-1 defeat of Heracles.

Also on Saturday, Twente notched two first-half goals en route to a 2-1 victory over Go Ahead Eagles while Willem II picked up a 2-1 win at Feyenoord.
