London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - United States defender DeAndre Yedlin will join Tottenham-Hotspur in January, the Premier League club confirmed on Tuesday.
Yedlin, 21, completed a transfer to the north London club from Seattle Sounders FC back in August, but remained with Seattle through the completion of the 2014 Major League Soccer season.
Yedlin has won 10 caps for the United States national team, bursting onto the scene with some excellent performances during the World Cup in Brazil. Having recently been granted a U. K. work permit, Yedlin will continue his development in the English top flight.
"DeAndre is a young player with great potential who has already achieved a lot in Major League Soccer," said Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino. "It is important for his development that he is given the time to adapt to his new surroundings both on and off the pitch and we believe that by coming to us in January it will give him the best opportunity to do so."
Spurs have been in good form the past few games, riding a three-match winning streak across all competitions. The club will hope to continue its winning ways against Leicester City on Boxing Day.
