The New York Yankees officially reinstated Andy Pettitte from the 15-day disabled list for the veteran hurler's return to the mound on Monday.

Pettitte has not pitched since exiting a home loss to Seattle on May 16 after 4 2/3 innings with a strained trapezius muscle in his left arm. The three-time All-Star had been struggling prior to being shut down, compiling a 1-3 record with a 5.33 earned run average in five starts after begining his 18th major league season with three consecutive wins.

In eight overall starts this year, Pettitte has gone 4-3 with a 3.83 ERA.

The left-hander, who turns 41 on June 15, will be aiming for his 250th career victory when he faces the Cleveland Indians on Monday.

New York optioned outfielder Brennan Boesch to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre to make room for Pettitte on the active roster.

Boesch was batting .275 with three home runs and eight RBI in 23 games with the Yankees, and had gone 5-for-8 with a homer in three games after being brought back from the minors on May 25.
