Yankees GM's accused stalker to be released

Published January 08, 2015

Associated Press

A woman accused of stalking New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman is poised to get out of jail after five months behind bars.

Prosecutors and a Manhattan judge signed off Thursday on Louise Neathway's (NEETH'-way) $300,000 bond package, but she remained in custody Friday while authorities worked out a paperwork problem.

Neathway has been held since her February arrest. Prosecutors say she stalked Cashman and squeezed $6,000 from him by threatening to hurt his reputation. She says they had a consensual affair.

She's also facing other charges that range from harassing her ex-husband to lying on an apartment application. She has pleaded not guilty to all of them.

When released, she'll have to wear an ankle monitor and live at her mother's New Jersey home.
