Yaegashi stops Porpramook for minimumweight title

Japan's Akira Yaegashi captured the WBA round TKO of champion Porpramook Pornsawan on Monday.

The fight was stopped a 2:38 of the 10th round in the scheduled 12-round bout. Yaegashi had the champion on the ropes when referee Erkki Meronen stepped in.

Yaegashi improved to 15-2 with eight knockouts and won his eighth straight decision. He hasn't lost since July 2008.

Porpramook was making his first title defense after winning the belt on July 30 with a majority decision over Muhammad Rachman. The native of Thailand, known as The Tank, fell to 23-4-1.
