X-rays negative on Dodgers SS Rollins' finger

The Dodgers received some good news on their ailing shortstop Jimmy Rollins on Monday.

The team told reporters that X-rays taken on Rollins' right index finger to examine the discomfort he's been experiencing on his knuckle turned out negative.

While Rollins has struggled at the plate in his first season in Los Angeles, hitting .220/.279/.355 with 13 home runs and 41 RBI in 130 games, he has been a defensive upgrade for the Dodgers at shortstop and provides the team with leadership not just as a veteran player but as a World Series winner as well.

Rookie Corey Seager started at shortstop in Rollins' place on Monday, going 1 for 3 with two walks and a double in the Dodgers' 7-5 win over the Angels.

Manager Don Mattingly said the X-rays were precautionary and that he didn't expect Rollins to miss more than a couple games.
