Wooten gets 1st US call-up for exhibition vs Peru with Dempsey, Bradley staying with MLS teams

Forward Andrew Wooten is getting his first call-up to the U.S. national team for the exhibition against Peru, with Clint Dempsey and Michael Bradley staying with their Major League Soccer teams.

Injured defenders Fabian Johnson and DaMarcus Beasley were not on the 23-man roster released Sunday for Friday's game in Washington.

Midfielder Jermaine Jones and defenders Geoff Cameron and Matt Besler, part of last year's World Cup team, are on the roster after not playing in this summer's Gold Cup.

Also back is 22-year-old forward Bobby Wood, who scored the late winning goals in exhibitions against the Netherlands and Germany in June.

The U.S. Soccer Federation had previously announced that goalkeeper Tim Howard had returned to the roster after taking a year off following the World Cup.
