With stadium opening 3 years away, Minnesota Vikings to unveil final design for $975M project

The Minnesota Vikings are showing off specific features of their new stadium.

Fans, members of the organization and public officials were scheduled to present the final design Monday night at the Guthrie Theater, a few blocks away from where the $975 million facility will be built in downtown Minneapolis.

The stadium will replace the 31-year-old Metrodome, which the Vikings will vacate after the 2013 season. They'll play at the University of Minnesota for two years while the new place is under construction.

The Vikings have promised a retractable mechanism to maximize the connection to downtown and bring in as much fresh air as possible. The movable piece more likely to be a window than a roof.
