St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom left Wednesday's game in the first period after a collision with Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri.

Kadri crashed the net and made contact to the head of a defenseless Backstrom. The Minnesota netminder laid motionless on the ice for a few seconds before getting up and staying in the game for a few more minutes.

Kadri received a minor penalty for goaltender interference. Josh Harding, who did not start due to feeling ill, entered the game for the injured Backstrom.

Following the game, the Wild announced on their Twitter account that Backstrom suffered an upper-body injury.
