Werder Bremen confirmed on Friday that goalkeeper Tim Wiese will leave the club when his contract is up at the end of the season.

There had been speculation in German newspapers that Wiese was prepared to depart following the current campaign, and the club has now confirmed that news.

"Tim Wiese has informed (coach) Thomas Schaaf and (director of sport) Klaus Allofs that he will be transferring to another club and will therefore leave Werder at the end of the season," Bremen's press officer Tino Polster told Kicker magazine.

The 30-year-old Wiese signed with Bremen in 2005 from Kaiserslautern on a free transfer and has gone on to play in 188 Bundesliga matches for the club, including 22 league starts this season.

Wiese is expected to be part of Germany's Euro 2012 squad this summer as the second-choice goalkeeper behind Manuel Neuer.
