Wet Jets end last practice in Cortland by getting doused as part of ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

The New York Jets accepted the New England Patriots' Ice Bucket Challenge and ended their last public practice at SUNY Cortland by getting doused — with help from the Cortlandville Fire Department.

The Jets dumped a few buckets on each other before the Cortlandville Fire Department sprayed the entire team with a fire hose mounted on a tower ladder.

The challenge, a social media phenomenon, is part of a program launched by the ALS Foundation to raise money for fighting ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Participants challenge others on video before dumping ice cold water over their heads.

Coach Rex Ryan nominated his wife, his dogs, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the Jets cheerleaders and the Cleveland Browns. GM John Idzik nominated the Mets, Yankees and the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
