Weaver comes through as Halos shut down ChiSox

Jered Weaver tossed seven shutout innings in year extension with the Angels, who got 0 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Weaver (15-6) snapped a four-start winless stretch by holding Chicago to four hits while walking two and striking out eight in his outing.

Torii Hunter added a solo homer for Los Angeles, which has won a season-high six straight to pull within 2 1/2 games of AL West-leading Texas. The Rangers host the Angels for three games starting on Friday.

Zach Stewart (1-3) was tagged for seven runs on seven hits in six-plus innings for the ChiSox, who have dropped five of their last seven.
