Vikings trying to regain winning touch after dropping tight game with late defensive collapse

Published January 13, 2015

Associated Press

The Minnesota Vikings are still searching for their first victory.

Their performance at Chicago in the 31-30 loss on Sunday was better overall than the opening defeat in Detroit. But there are several areas in need of improvement if the Vikings are going to return to the playoffs.

Last season, the Vikings went 5-1 in games decided by seven points or less. This time, they lost their first truly close game of the year. Up next is their first contest at home, against also-winless Cleveland.

The Vikings were lamenting on Monday how they let their lead slip away in the closing seconds. Coach Leslie Frazier took the blame for the breakdowns on the last drive.
